I seem to have myself in the same predicament, and have somehow been holding a calm presence when the territory of the unknown is just only beginning. I am a self employed daycare provider, and this week is officially my last week of work. We are expecting our second baby girl next Friday… and we are still waiting for my spouse’s unemployment check to come as he lost his job two months ago. Bills keep stacking up, and as luck would have it, it seems that now that there is no cash flow everything goes wrong. I see it as only a temporary problem, and have faith that everything will work itself out. I’ve spent more time writing, which I had put on the back burner for years, and am working my way through a creative journey with a 12 week self improvement course with ‘Julia Cameron’s’ book called ‘The Artist’s Way.’ I highly recommend it, if you have never heard of it.

Keep your head held high, and never let the worry/anxiety get the best of you. Wishing you the best of luck!

I can so totally relate to this! Do you remember that line in Say Anything where Lloyd tells his sister, and I’m paraphrasing, “decide to be happy and then just be happy.” I think about that when I don’t want my emotions to rule the day. Would that it was that easy. But how I feel can’t always be what sets the course. Anyway. That’s all to say I super duper get what you’re saying. Thanks for sharing.

Thats fantastic Christine.Congratulations.
I feel your excitement.There is really nothing like
the mentally stimulation one feels when around a new surrounding,meeting people and feeling alive again in a professional setting..Im sure your little one is going to miss you but the outside of your domain life welcomes your ambition. Have fun and i hope you get what your looking for with the position and that you are appreciated.Personally i probably wouldn’t express myself on the twitterverse about your new work ensemble only because others may not be so intune to you and i’ve heard employers doing really ridiculous things when they see Star Employees FB or Twitter accounts.Im sure you will use caution.
Its just hard to trust these days.
Anyways Bravo and i hope this company see’s your potential and the boss is ready for a smart go getter like yourself.

Music is the best mood creator or enhancer, so I highly suggest getting some dark tunes together. The other thing is to know your characters and setting and story you want to tell very well, so that once you start writing, you quickly get into that mood.

My strategy is to surround myself with things that upset me. It’s not that difficult, since such things seek me out like the last item on a scavenger hunt list. As I continue revising, it’s obvious which sections were written “in the zone” and which sections were written for the sake of moving forward. Music is always the best inspiration for me. When I find that perfect song, I loop it on my iPod and listen to nothing else. But, one thing I’ve found is a song is only useful for so long. I max it out in a day or two.

I’m glad to see you excited about pursuing a project. Keep me in mind if you ever need a critique session. I’m starting to think about this as I get closer to finishing my second draft.

Why don’t you publish the audio, raw or edited, that you record, especially if you’re just transcribing anyway. That would be cool and unique and people could listen in the car. Just an idea. I think people are overloaded with written stuff sometimes and would enjoy an alternative.
